NETWORKING
Network Design:
- Walk sites and design network based on customer requirements
- Evaluate existing network infrastructure and make recommendations
- Provide product model & part numbers for the ordering or bidding process
- Coordinate with architects or other building contractors on projects to design new infrastructure and cabling
Network Installation:
- Network cabling
- Install and configure network equipment based on existing or new network design
- Configure routing and switching between customer locations and integration with third parties
- Configure routing protocols: OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, RIP, etc.
- Install and configure network security appliances and software: Firewalls, VPNs, ACLs
- Install various network appliances for network security, content and spam filtering, network monitoring
- Configure network VLANs and security for converged technologies such as VoIP, Video Surveillance, and Environmental Controls
- Data Cabling: troubleshoot and repair existing cabling. Install and terminate new CAT6, install and terminate fiber optics multi-mode and single-mode
Network Troubleshooting:
- Troubleshoot network performance issues: Bottlenecks, QoS, Malware/Virus/Botnet traffic
- Troubleshoot operational issues: Routing configuration, failing equipment, connectivity issues
- Isolate and correct or replace malfunctioning equipment and configurations
- Work with service providers as necessary to correct line or service issues: CENIC, AT&T, Comcast, etc.
Firewalls
- Install firewall appliances to provide network security
- Migrate firewall settings from existing to new firewall
- Manage firewall translations and ACLs as servers and service needs change
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues and make changes
- Configure VPN services for Client and Site-to-Site connectivity
- Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco, CheckPoint
Wireless:
- Develop a wireless plan based on customer needs and planned expansion
- Install access points for basic and density coverage
- Configure centralized management controllers
- Configure SSIDs and security protocols
- Install RADUIS and configure authentication protocols
- Configure channel separation and power output
- Configure network VLANs and security for isolated, converged, or hybrid deployment
- Diagnose and correct wireless performance and connectivity issues
- Design network integrated plan for BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)
Virtualization:
- Evaluate customer's server deployment and determine if virtualization is appropriate
- Determine cooling, server, networking, and storage requirements for planned virtual environment
- Install storage devices and configure arrays as required: EMC, EqualLogic, NAS, DAS
- Configure storage network: iSCSI, NFS, Fibre Channel, FCoE
- Install and configure hypervisor: VMWare, Hyper-V, KVM
- Build new virtual servers to replace or augment existing servers
- Migrate existing physical servers to virtual servers
- Troubleshoot performance issues with virtual servers
- Expand or upgrade existing virtual environment
- Install VMWare VDI or N-Computing for Desktop Virtualization/Thin Client deployments
